Efimov Effect and Higher Bound States in a Three Particle System
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the J=O bound states for a system of, three identical spinless particles interacting in pairs through delta-shell potentials. The Efimov states are identified, and their wavefunctions obtained. We have found a new family of bound states, which occur for higher values of the attractive coupling strength. *Supported in part by the U. S. Energy Research and Development Administration. Efimov states in asymmetric systems
– The conditions for occurrence of the Efimov effect is briefly described using hyperspherical coordinates. The strength of the effective hyperradial ρ −2 potential appearing for two or three large scattering lengths is computed and discussed as function of two independent mass ratios of the three constituent particles. The effect is by far most pronounced for asymmetric systems with three very...
متن کاملZero Range Scattering Theory Ii . Minimal Relativistic Three - Particle Equations and the Efimov Effect
We present numerical results obtained from a minimal relativistic model for three distinguishable particles of equal mass driven by a single bound or virtual state for each pair, which is a relativistic generalization of the zero range non-relativistic two particle scattering length model. In contrast to the non-relativistic case, the relativistic kinematics makes the three body equations conve...
متن کاملFew-Body Physics in Quantum Gases
Few-body effects play an important role for the understanding of ultracold quantum gases. We make use of an effective field theory approach to investigate various aspects of universal few-body physics close to a Feshbach resonance. That is the regime where the scattering length is large compared to all other length scales of the system and thus determines the observables. It is also the regime ...
متن کاملAdiabatic Models of the Efimov Effect
Elementary demonstrations of the 3-body Efimov effect are provided for several models involving a light particle and two heavy ones, and differing by the nature of the 2-body (local or non-local) potentials which bind at zero energy the light particle to each of the heavy ones. The proofs rely on Born-Oppenheimer approximations, which are actually projections of the Hamiltonian into suitable su...
متن کاملThree-body halos in two dimensions
A method to study weakly bound three-body quantum systems in two dimensions is formulated in coordinate space for short-range potentials. Occurrences of spatially extended structures (halos) are investigated. Borromean systems are shown to exist in two dimensions for a certain class of potentials. An extensive numerical investigation shows that a weakly bound two-body state gives rise to two we...
